A special training programme for the staff members of Shimoga Educational Institutions was arranged at Sannidhi, the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Shimoga from November 01, 2024 to November 03, 2004.
This is the first phase of the 9 days' 'Barefoot Counsellors' Training Workshop. Fr Joyson Vas S.J., a Jesuit from Karnataka was the resource person. Thirty one teachers from different schools took part in the residential workshop. The programme commenced with a short prayer. Bishop Francis Serrao S.J. spoke on the importance of the workshop and how each as a counsellor can help our students.
The inter active sessions with practical activities supported the confidence building of the staff. The response from the staff was very good and they said that they benefited from the workshop and should be able to put it into practice. These trainees will go through two more phases of the programme of 3 days each in the near future. The organisers and the staff expressed their gratitude to our Bishop who is instrumental in organising this useful and important training.
