The Prison Ministry of India volunteers along with Sr Elize Lourdh SCB organised a programme on World Mothers’ day at the Central Prison for Women at Shimoga on Sunday, 11th of May 2025. Sr. Elize Lourdh began the programme with a short prayer and hymn. After this she welcomed the inmates and the superintendent Kum. Bhagyashree together with the administrative team. She also introduced the volunteers who had joined her to conduct the programme. This was an occasion to enlighten the women inmates on the dignity of Motherhood and the greatness a mother has in the society of today. Mrs Clara Bell was the resource person for the programme.
She enlightened the inmates and the volunteers on the quality of a mother in the world of today the many task can a mother fulfil. She told them beautifully the role of a mother and what a precious gift she is for the family, society and the world. She gave personal example and the sacrifices a mother can do in today’s society. Mrs. Supreetha and Ms Sagaya Mary conducted the cultural activities for the inmates who did provide active participation. The volunteers took the opportunity to distribute snacks sweets to all present. While thanking all and giving the vote of thanks Sr. Elize shared an exemplary stories of Mother and children in the happy family and stressed on mother’s role in the family. The programme ended with a short prayer and a prayer song in which all participated.
