On June 8, 2025, the Environment Commission of Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Old Town, Bhadravathi, organized a Laudato Si-inspired Vanamahotsava as part of the jubilee year 2025 celebrations. The event took place in the church cemetery area with the aim of fostering ecological awareness and promoting care for our common home among parishioners.
The program was meaningfully inaugurated by the Parish Priest, Fr. Steevan D'Sa, who symbolically watered a plant and, in his message, encouraged the faithful to actively protect and nurture the environment. A total of 75 saplings were distributed and planted by the parishioners in the cemetery grounds.
Sr. Theresa Mascarenhas, the Commission Coordinator, anchored the event with dedication. Despite the rain, the celebration concluded successfully, leaving a lasting impression of hope and responsibility toward nature in the hearts of all participants.
