The Women’s Cell of the Shimoga Diocese along with Youth Commission organised the Girl Child Day on Sunday, 10th of September 2023 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Shimoga. About 100 girls participated in the programme to celebrate this event in a meaningful way.
The day commenced with the Holy Eucharist where the girls actively participated starting with the beautiful introduction explain the meaning and purpose of the celebration, singing of hymns for the mass, taking up the the readings at the mass, reading the well prepared Prayers of the Faithful, and decorating the altar.
In the programme that followed they took part in the games and competitions arranged by the Youth and Women’s Cell. Nurse Anitha from Mcgann Hospital Shivamogga was specially honoured and felicitated for her outstanding service to humanity in the medical field. Remembering the Teachers’ Day celebrated on the 5th of September, the teachers of the parish were specially called and honoured during the programme. The event was concluded with Vote of Thanks and refreshments.
