Vocation Sunday was meaningfully celebrated on 18 May 2025 at Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, with a beautifully prepared liturgy dedicated to honoring and praying for religious vocations within the parish. The focus of the celebration was on vocations to the priesthood and religious life, highlighting the call to serve in the Lord’s vineyard.
Sisters from Nirmala Hospital actively participated in the liturgical celebration, and special prayers were offered for an increase in vocations within the Church. The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr Steevan D’Sa, delivered a thoughtful and inspiring homily on the importance of responding to God’s call and being chosen to serve Him.
During the celebration, heartfelt appreciation was expressed for the dedicated service of the religious sisters, both in the parish and at the hospital. Rev. Dr Sr Regina was felicitated on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee, and Sr Saritha D’Costa was honoured on her Silver Jubilee of religious life. A large number of sisters graced the Eucharistic celebration with their presence, adding to the solemnity of the occasion. The BEC Commission also took the opportunity to offer a brief felicitation to the Parish Priest in recognition of his devoted service to the parish community.
Following the Holy Mass, a brief Eucharistic adoration was led by the Parish Priest, during which special prayers were offered for diocesan priests and religious, invoking God’s grace for more vocations.
