The Yuvamitra Youth Commission, Diocese of Shimogga organised the inauguration program of the Youth Year 2024 at New Town Bhadravathi on Friday 29th of December 2023 and continued it to 30th Saturday. This program was delicately planned and executed with much devotion and deep commitment of faith. The inaugural Eucharist was held on Friday evening with Bishop Francis Serrao SJ presiding. Several priest con celebrated and the youth who assembled arranged beautiful choir. After the mass a solemn procession was held with the statue of our Lady of Fatima, starting from the church to the space of prayer set aside.
During the prayer service, Brother Joseph from Snehalaya Mangalore gave a touching testimony inspiring the young people. The Christy’s Vivit Band provided inspiring music and enlivened the Gospel message. On the following day Saturday morning Holy Eucharist was held to depict the official commencement of the year of Youth. Fr Anthony Peter who presided over the mass preached a meaningful homily inspiring the young people present. Fr Stanish S D’Souza as the president gave apt message. Fr Lourdu Raj, Karnataka Regional Youth Director was present and was honoured as the chief Guest. Mr Anson Nazareth, the YCS and YSM National President was present. On this occasion several competitions including Marian Grotto and Bible Model were held. The DEXCO and DTS elections were held. Thandagunda Parish secured the Yuva Saurabha trophy for active participation symbolising the unity and vibrancy of the youth community.
