05 September 2023: Volley Ball Match at Central Prison Shimoga:
On the occasion of the Teachers Day the Prison Ministry India, Diocese of Shimoga, organised a friendly volleyball match in the Shimoga Central Prison for men on Tuesday, 05 September 2023. Fr Sony SDB, brought the Don Bosco ITI students' team to play with the selected Central Prison inmates' team. Sr Helen Moras SCB, the Coordinator Prison Ministry of Shimoga Diocese who arranged this activity introduced both the teams to each other.
This friendly match was a unique activity to instill joy and happiness among the inmates and the ITI students. The Prison Superintendent, Dr Anitha, captured the viewers' attention by giving a good positive boost to the activity. In her speech she stressed on the importance of relaxation and interaction in our lives. She reminded them that it was the Teachers Day which is so deep in our country’s culture. The volleyball match was encouraging and refreshing for all of us, she said.
The Prison Ministry Commission is extremely grateful to the Prison Superintendent Dr. Anitha for giving this golden opportunity. This visit has helped our young people to understand prison life with all its norms and regulations. The PMI also distributed 10 T-Shirts in the name of Prison Ministry India, Shimoga unit to the inmates, as well as trophies for both the runners-up and winners of the match. During the two hours the group inside the prison premises was enriching.
Superintendent Dr. Anitha's presence was invaluable made the players and inmates happy. All could feel the joy bubbling on the faces of people there. Dr Anitha the Superintendent gave away the trophies. The programme brought a smile on the face of all.
