The Commission for Ecumenism, Shimoga Diocese, and the United Christian Forum (UCF) Shimoga Zone came together to celebrate Ecumenical Christmas on December 9, 2023, at Sannidhi, the pastoral centre of Shimoga Diocese. The program commenced at 6pm with Most Rev. Francis Serrao, the Bishop of Shimoga Diocese, presiding over the event. Mr. William D'Souza, a member of UCF-Shimoga Zone, extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries and participants. The inauguration ceremony, led by the president, featured a unique unveiling of Baby Jesus. In the inaugural message, Rev. Fr. Abraham A.M, Pastoral Coordinator for Bhadravathi Syro-Malabar Diocese, emphasized the importance of unity among Christians for the building of the Kingdom of God.
Rev. Paul F. Shinde, Presbyter in charge of CSI St. Thomas Church, Shimoga, highlighted contemporary situations surrounding Christmas celebrations, focusing on the Gospel of John with three key points: Journey, Transaction, and Tragedy. Pastor Suresh of Voice of Victory Church, Gopala Shimoga, enumerated the blessings derived from the mystery of the Incarnation.
Mrs. Anitha Mary, a retired Government Teacher from Bhadravathi, was felicitated during the occasion for her noteworthy service to children suffering from heart diseases. Mr. Arogya Swamy, a member of UCF-Shimoga Zone, introduced her and highlighted her compassionate work among less privileged children.
In his presidential address, Most Rev. Francis Serrao invited everyone to embody the message of Christmas, emphasizing the importance of accommodating all, without discrimination, similar to the Christmas crib that welcomes all living and non-living beings.
Mr. Davis NP, Director, Commission for Ecumenism, Bhadravathi Diocese, prayed for the unity of all Christian brethren. Rev. P.D. Yesudas, President of the Pastors Fellowship Association, Shimoga Diocese, offered Christmas blessings to all gathered.

gigudda, and Jehovah Nissi Bethel Mission Church, Shimoga, captivated the audience with melodious Christmas carols. Deacon Vinuth engaged everyone with some spot games. Fr. Nelson Pinto OCD, the Director of the Commission for Ecumenism and UCF-Shimoga, proposed the vote of thanks.
The celebration concluded with a sumptuous Christmas meal arranged by Fr. Duming Dias, the Director of Sannidhi. Fr. Vinod Saldhana SJ served as the program's compere, while Mrs. Janet Tauro and Mr. Wilson Gonsalves, the team members, ensured the smooth execution of all arrangements.
