Shimoga: Sanjeevana - Family Commission of the Diocese of Shimoga, conducted 3 days' Marriage Preparation Course (Pre-Cana) from 25 August to 27 August 2023 on Sannidhi, the Centre for the Pastoral Renewal Centre of the diocese of Shimoga. 32 marriageable youth of the diocese actively participated in the course.
The highlights of day one are: The resource persons dealt with the following topics: Marriage in God's plan, A Covenant and Sacrament, Family - Husband and Wife, Communication in the family, Love, Infatuation and Friendship and the complementarity of woman and man. The resource persons for the day were: Fr Jacob M. J., Mrs Nancy Gham and Mr David Raj. The day got concluded with the Rosary.
The day two began with morning prayer followed by the Holy Eucharist presided over by Most Rev Dr Francis Serrao SJ. During the Eucharist, the Bishop encouraged the participants to build good families. The topics of the day were: Spirituality and Religiosity in the Family by Most Rev Dr Francis Serrao SJ; Marriage in civil and Canon Law by Fr Richard Pais; Responsible Parenthood- Roles and Responsibilities of parents by Mrs Prescolla Pinto; Principles for happy and contented marriage - Problems in the family and how to overcome them and Sexuality in marital life: Challenges.
The day three began with an invocation to God and morning prayer. Fr Duming Dias, Director for Sanjeevana, presided over the Eucharist and he preached on the three altars very essential for married couples. The topics for the day were: Financial Management, Pro- Life, Media Education, Upbringing of children by Mr Monthu Moras and Natural Family Planning by Mrs Mary Dsouza.
At the end of the course, Mr Navin and Miss Roshni Dsouza shared their experiences of the course. It was then followed by the distribution of the certificates to the participants. Mr Anthony Clinton proposed vote of thanks.
