OUR LADY OF HEALTH MINOR BASILICA, HARIHAR
07January 2023, was a historical event for the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Health, Harihar.
The parish and a large number of devotees gathered on its premises witnessed a triple inauguration and blessing by the Bishop of Shimoga, Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao, SJ. At 5.30 PM the Bishop blessed the newly installed brass flag mast of 50ft and hoisted the flag of Our Lady of Health followed by an 8ft two-sided statue of Harihar Matha (Mother of Harihar) erected above the main entrance gate.
The Bishop then presided over the concelebrated Holy Eucharist and at the end of the Mass, he blessed the renovated grotto of the miraculous statue of Harihar Maatha. Incidentally it was also the day of the golden birthday of the Rector and the Parish Priest of the Minor Basilica, Rev. Dr. Anthony Peter which was celebrated elaborately by the pilgrims and parishioners at Maria Sadan, the parish hall, with due honor to their much appreciated and committed pastor.
Among other dignitaries Hon. Mr. Ramappa MLA, Harihar Constituency, Ex MLA H.S. Shivashankar, and Mr. Srinivas Nandigavi, Congress leader graced the occasion and expressed their profound appreciation and affection by honouring the golden priest. The memorable event got culminated with a festal meal for all gathered.
