Shimoga: The meeting of the Deanery Commissions Members along with the Diocesan Commissions Directors was held in Sannidhi on 11 November 2022. Speaking on the occasion, Msgr Felix Noronha, the Vicar General of the Diocese, highlighted the need to come together and prepare an action plan for 2023.
He also mentioned that in the absence of the Bishop, Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, who is attending CBCI meeting at Bangalore, the mantle fell on him to lead the deliberations. There is a need today to involve the Deanery Commissions Members whose role is to coordinate activities at the Deanery level.
The resource persons of the day were Fr Stany D'Souza and Fr Veeresh Moras. While the former spoke on the role of laity and the Commissions in the diocese and the deaneries, the latter spoke on Pastoral Planning, its essentials while preparing the action plan. The Diocesan Coordinator of the Pastoral Commissions, Rev. Duming Dias, gave directions as to how to prepare the action plan and emphasised the need to prioritise the activities that are essential for the growth of the deanery and the diocese. He emphasised the need to focus on formative type of activities like training programs, seminars, workshops, camps, etc. Soon after, the members went into groups to prepare action plans for their Commissions.
There were 95 participants representing 22 Commissions. All the Diocesan Directors except two were present for the gathering and the planning sessions. The Diocesan Coordinator of the Pastoral Commissions informed the Diocesan Directors that they would formally present the ACTION PLAN 2023 of their Commissions on 23 November 2022 when they meet with the Diocesan Pastoral Plan Implementation Committee for evaluation, reporting, presentation of the action plan for 2023.
The meeting began with a prayer followed by words of welcome by Sr Helen Moras. Mr William D'Souza proposed vote of thanks. Fr Santhosh Pereira, Rector of Minor Seminary , was the M. C. of the event. Fr Anthony Peter concluded the programme by leading the Angelus prayer.
