Sannidhi, Shimoga: The Commission for Family-Sanjeevana had a rare occasion on 26 November 2023 as they celebrated three events, viz, MFC-Family Day (Kutumbothsava), Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Golden Couples of the Diocese and the oath-taking ceremony of four Couples. The day was marked with great pomp and joy as all MFC families of the diocese gathered together to celebrate the Family Day in Sannidhi, the Centre for Pastoral Renewal.
MFC Family Day:
Every year before the Christmas, MFC Family Day is being celebrated. The day began with a number of chance games for children and the couples and at the end prizes were distributed to the winners. For the event, Mr Jimmy, the Country Servant who was present for the day, spoke encouraging words to the families. As of now, there are 18 MFC families in the diocese.
Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Golden Couples of the diocese:
The day was dedicated to the Golden Couples of the diocese as they celebrated their day with the MFC Families. During the Eucharist, they renewed their vows made fifty years ago and they were extremely overjoyed to have such a Celebration.
Oath Taking Ceremony of MFC Families:
Added to the above, four families from the Parishes of Cathedral, Sharavathinagar and Gopala, took Oath so as to get incorporated into the MFC and live the MFC Spirituality as the Missionaries in the family, locality, working places, parishes and wherever they are.
Earlier, Most Rev Dr Francis Serrao SJ, the Bishop of Shimoga, presided over the Eucharist and prayed over the Golden couples, four MFC families who took oath and all the families gathered. He encouraged them to live Christ's values and hand on such values to their children and grand children.
Later after the Eucharist, during the stage programme, all the 17 Golden Couples and the four families that took oath, were felicitated on the occasion with Memento, shawl and gift. The golden couples exchanged the garlands.
