Shivamogga, 11 August 2023:

The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society, Shimoga, the “development arm” of the Diocese of Shimoga, which came into existence on 11 August 1989, marked the successful completion of 34 years of its glorious existence on 11 August 2023 by planting 500 saplings of various fruits like mango, guava, wood apple, gooseberry, jack fruits, etc. in a piece of land ay Anupinakatte allotted to the organisation by the City Municipality Corporation, Shivamogga.

Dr Dhananjay Sarji, a Pediatrician and Managing Trustee of Sarji Foundation and Chairman of Sarji Hospital, Shivamogga and Advocate Shripal were the chief guests. After planting the saplings, both the guests addressed the participants on the present condition of the earth and stressed on the need to grow more and more trees so that the future generation has enough trees to provide the required oxygen.

The beneficiaries of the organisation have decided to plant at least 5000 saplings of different varieties and take care of the plants. Already more than 1000 saplings are planted in Thirthahalli, Shivamogga, Honnali, etc. All those who have planted the saplings have taken the responsibility to take care of them.
