Malur, Shimoga, 30 April 2023:
The Annual Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church, Malur, Thirthahalli taluk was celebrated today, the 30th of April 2023. Today the Malur Mission Centre completed 20 years of its existence as an independent Mission Centre. On this day, 20 years ago the present Church and the presbytery was blessed and inaugurated by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo. On the occasion of completing 20 years, the faithful of the Mission Centre thanked the Lord for blessing them through the powerful intercession of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.
Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ celebrated the Eucharistic Celebration. The bishop in his homily highlighted the qualities of a Shepherd and noted that all of us are called to become good shepherd. He also urged the faithful to motivate young boys and girls to come forward to serve the Lord through a religious life.
After the Festal Eucharistic Celebration three of the former Mission Directors who were present during the celebration were honoured. The meritorious students who had scored distinctions in 2nd PUC and Degree exams were honoured along with the one who is pursuing her PhD.
Today is also the ordination anniversary of Bishop Francis Serrao SJ and Fr Eugene Lobo SJ. Both were honoured during the felicitation ceremony. Bishop and Fr Eugene Lobo also shared the joy of their Ordination Day by cutting the cake and sharing the same with the small children. The faithful of the Mission Centre honoured Rev. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto, the care-taker Mission Director for the development over the past 6 months. Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto thanked everyone for their generous contribution and wholehearted support. The Bishop in his concluding remarks thanked everyone, especially Fr Clifford Roshan Pinto for organizing the event meticulously.
After the Eucharistic Celebration, Bishop blessed the small chapel constructed in the Cemetery. Festive dinner was served to all the Faithful.
