History: Church of St Joseph the Worker, Paper Town Bhadravathi.

Church of St Joseph the Worker is situated in Paper Town, Bhadravathi. Because in it is located the Mysore Paper Mills, which by the way, supplies Paper though-out the State.

The Church Building started in 1966 by Fr S Chinnappan, was blessed on 01-05-1969. The area was erected into a parish on 01st May 1971. It was endowed with a presbytery by Fr K A Mathew with active cooperation and hard work of his assistant Fr Ignatius D’Costa and financial help from the Diocese. The buildings are constructed on land belonging to Mysore Paper Mills Ltd., following permission from its General Manager by letter dated 24-08-1963 which states that 150’ X 100’ has been allotted for Church construction. There were 999 Catholics in 1967.

A small Grotto of St Anthony was built in front of the Church at the request of the people by Fr K A Mathew. The compound wall and the picture of the Resurrection in Mosaic on the back wall of the sanctuary were got done by Fr Felix Joseph Noronha.
