On 23rd November 2024, the Prison Ministry India, Shimoga Unit, in collaboration with the students from St. Charles Degree College, New Town, Bhadravathi, organized an exciting volleyball match at the Central Prison, Shimoga. The event was graced by Mr. Ranganath R, Superintendent of the Central Prison, Mrs. Preethi, Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Katimani, Jailor,Mr. Anil, Jailor,Mrs. Sushma, Jailor, prison staff, inmates,Sr. Helen Moras, Coordinator of the Prison Ministry India, Shimoga Unit and Mr. Krishna PE instructor and Mrs. Dhanalakshmi.
The match showcased an extraordinary spirit of sportsmanship, with the enthusiastic support of the audience reverberating through the grounds. The lively commentary by the emcees added energy and excitement to the event, keeping everyone engaged and motivated.
The competition featured two teams of prison inmates and one team from St. Charles Degree College, resulting in a thrilling and closely contested game. Ultimately, the inmates emerged victorious, claiming the Winner's Trophy, while the St Charles Degree college team secured the Runner's Trophy.
The match was conducted in a spirit of harmony and mutual respect, without any tension or disruptions. It provided an excellent platform for fostering teamwork, physical fitness and positive interaction between the inmates and the students.
