On Thursday, 26th of September 2024, the volunteers from the Prison Ministry of India, Shimoga Diocese, organised a training session on envelopes and paper bag making, to help the inmates to learn something new and also to prepare them for life. The PMI volunteers also arranged an Occupational Therapy Session for the inmates as part of their regular mission at the Central Women's Prison, Shivamogga.
The Newly appointed Superintendent of the Prison, Mrs. Bhagirathi, along with Mrs. Shantha and other Prison Officials were present. After a short prayer led by the volunteers, Sr. Elize Lourdu SCB the Coordinator welcomed the Prison Officials, and the Resource Person, Sr. Shobhna, the supporting team and the inmates of the Prison. Mrs Rosy, the Art Teacher introduced the method of envelope and paper bag making and guided the participants.
After this part of training, the inmates participated in one hour session on various issues. Later the participants exhibited with enthusiasm their practical art work. Mrs. Ambika on behalf of the Prison Officials proposed the vote of thanks for the PMI volunteers for their precious contribution and invited them to come again to share their knowledge with the inmates. The PMI Volunteers shared the sweets with the inmates at the end of the session.
