Sannidhi, Shimoga 25 September 2022

"The Missionary Families for Christ have to be salt and light in the place where they live", said Bp Francis Serrao SJ, the Bishop of Shimoga Diocese while addressing second batch of such Families in the diocese on the occasion of making COVENANT OATH during the Eucharist in a moderate gathering in the Cathedral parish.

Earlier he offered the Holy Eucharist and admonished them to be proud of being called with the name- MFC as Lazar had a name and a master while the rich man didn't have a name and hence no identity. In all, five families, three from Cathedral parish, one from Infant Jesus Church and one from Good Shepherd Church, took the covenant oath on the occasion.

The Family Commission, Sanjeevana, had organised Christian Life Seminar for couples of the Shimoga Zone with the help of MFC Bangalore Team headed by Mr Preetham Dsouza and thereafter they attended COVENANT RECOLLECTION LESSONS for 12 weeks. Later during the short programme to felicitate the families, the Bishop emphasised two aspects of evangelization, viz, To be salt of the earth to be light of the world and proclaim the good news directly. The former, he said, belongs to them.

Mr Arogyaswamy welcomed the gathering while Mr Davidraj proposed the vote of thanks especially to the Bishop, the Director of Sanjeevana, MFC Team from Bangalore, Fr Stany Dsouza, the Parish Priest, the Families who took covenant oath and former MFC families. All the participants took part on the fellowship meal.
